VISUAL ARTS
Visual Arts education is an essential part of the basic educational preparation of all Park Tudor students. Artistic discipline allows students the opportunity to explore, express and create. The Visual Arts faculty strives to help students understand and create visual art beyond the formal education setting.
The Visual Arts program recognizes the unique needs, interests and abilities of students at all levels of growth. Art is not only an important part of the formal curriculum, but it is also an important tool in the development of a student's sense of identity.
Art classes are offered for grades JK-6 as part of the curriculum. Students in grades 7 and 8 may take a year-long elective art class. Upper School electives are available to students who are interested in refining their abilities and learning more about art, ceramics, photography and graphic design.
Art Opportunities
Artwork by students in all grades is displayed in the Leffler Gallery, throughout campus and around the city. Student work is frequently entered in local and regional contests. Students are encouraged to participate in small group lessons after school, classes at the Indianapolis Art Center and Herron School of Art and Design, and summer art programs throughout the U.S. and Europe; including Spoleto Study Abroad. Faculty work one to one with Upper School students and provide consultations for portfolio preparations throughout the college admissions process.
