​Instrumental Music Curriculum
   JK-SK: Suzuki Experience

   Grades 1-4: The Young String Program

   Grade 5: Advanced Strings, Beginning Classes for Strings, Woodwind, Brass, Percussion

   Grades 6-8: Band, Orchestra

   Grades 9-12: Band, Orchestra, Music History, Music Theory, AP Music Theory

​Vocal Music Curriculum
   JK-6: Music classes

   Grades 7-8: Middle School Choir

   Grades 9-12: Girls' Ensemble, Journeymen, Park Tudor Singers, Madrigal Singers


In the fall of 2010, Park Tudor's Upper School band and orchestra were invited to perform at the new Palladium concert hall in Carmel, Indiana. Music engineers worked throughout the performance to fine-tune the acoustics of the hall in preparation for the grand opening.

INSTRUMENTAL & VOCAL MUSIC

The Music Department offers a comprehensive and diverse music program that offers students opportunities to sing, play instruments, appreciate music history and theory, and participate in musical performances. The well-trained faculty encourages students to explore, experiment and develop their own musical instincts. The self-discipline learned through the practice of music is a valuable skill that can enhance a child's development in other areas of learning.

​General music classes and vocal music classes begin in junior kindergarten and continue through all grade levels. More than 65% of our high school students are involved in vocal or instrumental music.

Study and Performance Opportunities

   Suzuki Experience - Children in kindergarten are offered music experiences through the medium of violin and cello.
 

   The Young String Program – This program is specifically designed for young children to learn the fundamentals of playing violin or cello with an immediate emphasis on chamber music that nurtures the fun and enjoyment of making music with friends.

Instrumental Music

Performance opportunities include two annual fifth-grade concerts, a sixth-grade concert, and semi-annual Middle and Upper School Band and Orchestra concerts. Additional extra-curricular offerings are:

   

   Pep Band - The Upper School Pep Band performs at many home football and basketball games and pep rallies.

​

   Jazz Ensembles - Middle and Upper School band students rehearse weekly to perform at jazz festivals, school assemblies and a special community concert.
 

   Renaissance String Ensemble - The Upper School honors chamber music ensemble rehearses weekly to perform music for numerous school and community functions throughout the year.

​

   Vocal Music – Students perform in the annual Lower School holiday concerts, semi-annual Middle and Upper School concerts, the Upper School Spring Musical, and Madrigal Singers performances in the community and at various Park Tudor events.

​

   Indiana State School Music Association – Park Tudor students in grades 5-12 participate in the annual ISSMA solo and ensemble contest. Students perform piano, voice and instrumental solos and ensembles at the district and state levels of competition.
 

   Private Music Instruction – Park Tudor offers private lessons in piano, voice, string instruments and winds.
